The Rust‑Oleum 248908 High Heat Flat Red Protective Enamel Spray Paint, 12 oz is a professional-grade, oil-based aerosol designed to safeguard and refresh surfaces exposed to extreme intermittent heat—up to 2,000 °F (1,093 °C). Perfect for automotive exhaust, engine parts, grills, and industrial applications, this flat red enamel offers exceptional durability, rust prevention, and resistance to oil, gas, and grease.

FEATURES & BENEFITS

  • High Heat Resistance: Withstands intermittent temperatures up to 2,000 °F—ideal for exhaust manifolds, headers, barbecue grills, and furnace parts.
  • Flat Red Finish: Delivers a non-reflective, matte red sheen that keeps components looking clean while hiding soot and grime.
  • Oil-Based Protective Enamel: Formulated to resist chipping, peeling, corrosion, salts, humidity, and solvents.
  • Rust-Inhibitive Formula: Includes corrosion-resistant elements to protect bare metal surfaces from rust and degradation.
  • Comfort Spray Tip & Any-Angle Capability: Ergonomic wider finger pad and inverted spray tip make it easier to reach tight or awkward spaces without fatigue.
  • Coverage: One 12 oz can covers approximately 6–10 sq ft, depending on film thickness.

APPLICATION TIPS

  • Surface Preparation: Clean thoroughly—remove grease, oil, rust, loose paint, and debris. Wire-brush or sand to bare metal for best adhesion. Rinse and ensure the surface is completely dry.
  • Shake Thoroughly: Shake can for at least 1 minute after mixing ball rattles and shake frequently during use.
  • Spray Technique: Hold 8–12″ from the surface and apply in light, even sweeps with slight overlap. Keep motion continuous to avoid runs.
  • Drying & Recoat: Dries to touch in ~30 minutes, handleable in 1–2 hours. Recoat anytime after the first hour.
  • Heat Curing (Recommended for Durability):
    • Off-vehicle parts: Bake in stages—250 °F / 30 min, cool 30 min; 400 °F / 30 min, cool 30 min; 600 °F / 30 min, cool 30 min.
    • On-vehicle: Idle engine for 10 min, cool 20 min; idle 20 min, cool 20 min; normal running 30 min then cool .

SAFETY INFORMATION

  • Flammability: Extremely flammable aerosol—keep away from heat, sparks, open flames, and hot surfaces.
  • Ventilation: Use outdoors or in well-ventilated areas. Avoid breathing vapors; wear suitable respirators if necessary.
  • Protective Gear: Use gloves, eye protection, and avoid direct skin contact. Follow SDS and label instructions.
