The Rust-Oleum 248903 High Heat Flat Black Protective Enamel Spray Paint, 12 oz is a premium, oil-based aerosol formulated to withstand intermittent heat exposure up to 2,000 °F (1,093 °C). Perfect for automotive, grill, furnace, and exhaust applications, this tough enamel renews and protects surfaces from extreme temperatures, oil, grease, and rust.

FEATURES & BENEFITS

  • High-Heat Protection: Specially designed to resist intermittent heat up to 2,000 °F, making it ideal for engines, exhaust systems, grills, stoves, and manifolds.
  • Flat Black Finish: Provides a matte, low-gloss coating that complements industrial and automotive aesthetics.
  • Oil-Based Enamel Durability: Ensures resistance to chipping, peeling, salt, humidity, oil, gas, and solvents while preventing rust.
  • Any-Angle Spray Tip: Comfort spray design allows painting in hard-to-reach areas—even upside down—while reducing finger fatigue.
  • Coverage: One 12 oz can covers approximately 6–10 sq ft—enough for multiple light coats on small parts or exhaust pipe sections.
  • Rust Prevention Formula: Contains rust-inhibitive ingredients to protect bare metal surfaces.

APPLICATION TIPS

  • Prepare Surface: Clean thoroughly—remove grease, oil, rust, and loose paint using detergent, wire brush, or sandpaper. Rinse and dry completely.
  • Shake Well: Agitate for 1 minute after the mixing ball rattles. Shake periodically during use.
  • Technique: Hold can 8–12″ from the surface. Apply light, even coats with a sweeping motion and slight overlap. Multiple thin layers prevent drips.
  • Dry & Recoat: Touch dry in 30 minutes; handle in 1–2 hours. Recoat anytime after the first hour.
  • Heat Curing (Optional for enhanced durability):
    • Off-vehicle: Bake at 250–600 °F in stages with cooling in between for best adhesion.
    • On-vehicle: Idle engine in stages (10–30 minutes) with cool-down periods to cure.

SAFETY INFORMATION

  • Flammable Solvent-Based Spray: Use only outdoors or in a well-ventilated area. Avoid heat, sparks, and open flames.
  • Fume Warning: May emit strong odors when cured. Users recommend good ventilation or outdoor use.
  • Use Protective Gear: Wear gloves, eye protection, and a respirator suitable for solvent vapors.
  • Cleanup & Storage: Invert can and spray to clean the nozzle. Clean overspray with mineral spirits. Store below 120 °F and dispose per local regulations.
